About me
I split my time between copywriting and restaurant writing.
As a copywriter, I specialise in demystifying technical topics and helping businesses express what they do in simple terms.
As a restaurant writer, I’m really interested in historical and inexpensive places. I started the Instagram page @caffs_not_cafes in 2019, to draw attention to the old caffs I was visiting every weekend. Since then, I’ve written for publications like Vittles, Eater London and the Guardian.

Restaurant writing
I launched @caffs_not_cafes to celebrate London’s oldest caffs. I use the page to showcase the caffs I love, along with other places with a similar spirit, from chip shops to Chinese restaurants.
My Instagram has been featured in the FT, the Guardian, the Sunday Times and more. I’ve partnered with Historic England, spoken at Glastonbury and the Cutty Sark, and been interviewed by The Face, BBC Radio 4, MOLD Magazine and others. I was nominated in the restaurant writer category for the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards in 2023 and 2024.
You can find my writing in places like Vittles, Noble Rot, the Guardian, Eater London and Delicious Magazine. If you’re looking for my Eater caffs guides, they’re on my Linktree along with a selection of my other pieces and interviews.
Wooden City
In March 2024 I launched Wooden City, a newsletter about London. It focuses on everyday places with unusual staying power, like shops, buildings, restaurants and public spaces.
My main goal with the newsletter is to piece London together, from fragments of its past to the ordinary places we make use of today. It’s designed to be a repository of sorts, that goes further than my Instagram by being more in-depth and searchable, with grouped recommendations all in one place.
I started with a three-part guide to my 50 favourite caffs, which features a London-wide map and is my most ambitious project to date. You can read more about the newsletter here and browse the archive here.
